Scholarship Overview

Maastricht University offers the Maastricht University Holland-High Potential scholarship. Every year, the International Students Office of Maastricht University awards scholarships to degree-seeking students who have specified financial needs. Note that a large portion of the scholarship funds come from International student tuition. Maastricht University Holland-High Potential scholarship is applicable for Masters Degree. The award is applicable for the courses like MSc in Sustainability Science and Policy. If we consider the amount of the Maastricht University Holland-High Potential scholarship, then it varies each semester. The applicants should review the scholarship application in order to fully understand the availability and amount for that particular semester. To qualify for the award, candidates must have completed the Bachelor degree and passed the 12th grade. Eligibility

  • Applicants must hold a bachelor degree in one of the prefered majors: biology, ecology, agricultural sciences, earth sciences, environmental sciences, health sciences, geography, planning, sociology, modern history, law, political sciences, development studies, public administration, economics, (international) business, organization and management, environmental sciences, science and technology, communication, psychology, behavioural studies, anthropology, cultural studies, philosophy and liberal arts
  • Must have  obtained at least 15 ECTS in relevant courses and, at least 15 ECTS on scientific methods
    • Relevant courses are: sustainable development, sustainability science, development studies, environmental science, globalization, international relations,  international law, political sciences, corporate social responsibility, public policy or governance
  • Applicants with a degree in another field than those mentioned above are still eligible to apply but they need to complete deficiencies courses 
  • Applicants must demonstrate a minimum grade point average of a B (US system), or a 7.0 (Dutch system), (convert GPA to US letter grade system)

Applicants:

  • Must hold nationality in a country outside the EU/EEA, Switzerland or Surinam and meet the requirements for obtaining an entry visa and residence permit for the Netherlands
  • Must have applied for admission to a full-time Master’s programme at Maastricht University
  • Must have never participated in a degree-seeking higher education programme, a primary education programme, or secondary education programme in the Netherlands Students who completed exchange programmes in the Netherlands are welcome to apply
  • Must not be over 35 years of age
  • Must have obtained excellent results during prior education programmes, as demonstrated by the latest grade transcript or certified by academic excellence
  • If several applicants are equally qualified, University will give preference to applicants whose academic transcript or certified letter of academic excellence demonstrate that they are among the top 5% of the 2021/22 scholarship programme applicants
