Scholarship Overview

The University of Waterloo offers Entrance Scholarships. These scholarships are for those students who are full-time first-year degree students and beginning university/college for the first time. Students are not required to fill out an application form for most of the scholarships offered by the University of Waterloo. The merit scholarship by the University of Waterloo are awarded to students based on their academic and personal achievements. Scholarships which need an application are listed below:

• Scholarships awarded by faculties

Students are automatically considered for scholarships at the University of Waterloo. The university uses “admission average” to award scholarships, it includes your top six grades, including the courses required for admission to your course of choice.

The University of Waterloo offers entrance scholarships to recognize talented students with outstanding academic achievements. Conditions to get an entrance scholarship are:

• Enrolled in a full-time, first-year degree programme
• Beginning university/college for the first time
• Admission average is over 85% 

Merit Scholarship at the University of Waterloo is a type of entrance scholarship. It is awarded one-time valued at $1,000 to students. To be eligible for a merit scholarship, you must have an admission average between 85 – 89.9%. The Faculty of Engineering at the University of Waterloo offers entrance scholarships for international students worth $10,000 for one year. This scholarship is for first - year international students studying full-time in Architecture, Engineering or Software Engineering

Eligibility

• Students early May admission average, including required courses, must be 85 - 89.9% for the program
• Students must be enrolled at Waterloo in full-time degree studies for the entire September to December term
• A student must accept the Offer of Admission by the date specified on the offer
• TOEFL- A score of 90 is required with a minimum of 25 in writing and speaking
• IELTS- A score of 6.5 is required with 6.5 in writing, 6.5 speaking, 6.0 reading, and 6.0 listening
• PTE- A score of 63 is required with a minimum of 65 in writing and speaking sections
