Scholarship Overview

Plater International Scholars Program is a type of scholarship which is offered by the Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis . Plater International Scholars Program is awarded to Bachelors Degree students who can demonstrate excellent academic achievement and the potential to contribute to the university community. This Merit Based scholarship will be given on a yearly basis. The scholarship amount can be used for tuition. The maximum scholarship amount a student can get is USD 17000. Students will be auto-considered for this scholarship if they apply for the courses on which this scholarship is applicable. In this case, they need not submit a separate application for applying to this scholarship. Students must have taken the 12th grade to be eligible for this scholarship. To be eligible for this award, international students must take English language examinations as well as standardised exams like TOEFL, IELTS and SAT. As part of the selection process, students must attend an interview. The following documentation is required from students in order to apply for the scholarship: LOR, Essays, CV and Official Transcripts.

Eligibility

  • Applicants are eligible if they:
    • Apply for a Fall term
    • Complete an IUPUI application and an Honors College scholarship application (and submit all materials)
    • Have a cumulative high school GPA of 3.75 (weighted)
  • Finalists may be required to complete an interview virtually over Zoom or Skype

  • Submit a reference form specific to the scholarship itself
    • This recommender must be someone other than the school counselor who will be providing your reference for admission to the Honors College and cannot be a family member
  • Essay:
    • Write an essay, from 800 to 1,000 words, that discusses the importance of globalization and cross-cultural competency. What have you done to improve your global awareness and understanding of different cultures? Have you taken any initiatives to promote these values in your community? As a Plater International Scholar at IUPUI and the IUPUI Honors College, what international experiences would you like to pursue and why?
  • Submit a scholarship resume detailing experiences relevant to international and cross-cultural involvement in addition to the general resume
  • General Application documents:-
    • Submit full and complete academic records from every secondary school and university/post-secondary institution attended
    • 9, 10, 11 standard marksheets
    • Proof of English language proficiency
    • Submit financial documentation
    • Submit Explanation of Time Since Last School Attended
      • If the applicants plan to enroll at IUPUI more than 3 months after graduating from secondary school, they will need to give the university a short explanation of what they have done with their time since graduation
    • Submit Clarification of your Present Visa Status (if applicable)
    • Submit a copy of the Passport ID Page
    • CV
    • Three Letter of Recommendation
    • Submit SOP
