Scholarship Overview

Queen's Excellence Award is offered by the Queen's University Belfast to international students. Queen's Excellence Award is available for students from any country who want to study Bachelors Degree in the UK at the Queen's University Belfast. Every year, the university selects a certain number of candidates from all the received applications and offers them scholarships based on their academic profiles. The maximum scholarship that a student can receive is GBP 2000 at Queen's University Belfast. The fee needs to be paid in full, the scholarship amount will be given to students once they start their study program. Students must have taken the 12th grade to be eligible for this scholarship.

    • Undergraduate: Medicine, Dentistry, Agricultural Technology, Theology, LLB Senior Status
    • ALL Distance Learning programmes, foundation degree programmes and non-standard fee courses, including part-time programmes

Application Process for this scholarship

  • A personal statement is required. Follow these guidelines:
    • The applicant can write up to 4,000 characters of text, it may include the following:-
      • Why the applicant is applying
      • What makes the applicant suitable - any relevant skills, experience, or achievements gained from education, work, or other activities
      • Why the applicant wants to study in the UK
        English language skills and any English courses or tests applicant have taken
      • Why the applicant wants to be an international student rather than study in his/her own country
  • Proof of English Language qualification 
  • Academic Transcripts, certificates, or statement of Results
  • Applicants need to provide a reference
    • This should be written by a referee who knows the applicant academically and can talk about his/her work ethic, interaction with other students, and his/her suitability for higher education or a future career
    • In a current or recent school or college, ask tutor, teacher, principal, or the headteacher
    • If left the education years ago, ask an employer, volunteering supervisor, or trainer

  • Students must be classified as international fee-paying students paying the full international tuition fee rate in order to be considered for this discount
  • The Queen's Excellence Award is exclusive to students on eligible full duration undergraduate programmes - students from International Year One or articulation partnership agreements or similar are not eligible for this award
  • Students must be self-funded
  • In the event that a student has received scholarship offers for a number of different programmes at Queen’s University Belfast, they will only be able to redeem one scholarship award
  • Applicants may apply and/or be considered for more than one award administered by Queen’s University Belfast but if successful would receive only the highest value  award with the lower value award cancelled or allocated to another applicant
