Quercus Active Citizenship Scholarships is offered by the University College Cork to international students. Quercus Active Citizenship Scholarships is available for students from all countries who want to study Bachelors Degree in the Ireland at the University College Cork. Every year, the university selects a certain number of candidates from all the received applications and offers them scholarships based on their academic profiles. The maximum scholarship that a student can receive is Euro 10500 at University College Cork. The fee needs to be paid in full, the scholarship amount will be given to students once they start their study program.

  • Value: up to €10,500
  • The five strands of talented students within the programme will benefit from a wide range of academic, financial, personal, and other supports. Scholars may receive a reduced points entry into UCC, but they must achieve at least 85% of the CAO points for the year of entry.
  • The Scholarship can be renewed for subsequent years, subject to the Scholar meeting the requirements of the Active Citizenship Retention & Discontinuation Document and progressing to the next level of study in their academic programme.

Eligibility

  • Applicants must be a registered UCC student, or apply through CAO or the International Office for a place on an undergraduate/level 8 programme at University College Cork to be eligible for this scholarship
  • Successful applicants will:
    • Be able to provide evidence of sustained engagement in Active Citizenship and have demonstrated significant impact through a regional or national profile for leadership in active citizenship. Evidence of:
      • Leadership
      • Sustained commitment and
      • A discernible outcome or impact in one or more of the following domains of active citizenship: Volunteering, Advocacy, Community Engagement, Social Regeneration, Social Entrepreneurship would be required.
    • Have exhibited excellence and the potential to develop that excellence in their chosen field with recognition at regional, national, or international level for their Citizenship efforts. One-off demonstrations of Active Citizenship will be insufficient to be deemed eligible for this Award.
    • Be expected to act as ambassadors for UCC and the Quercus Programme in terms of their participation in their chosen field.

Preference will be given to following candidates:

  • Where there are equivalent levels of excellence applicants deemed able to contribute most to UCC will be selected.

Additional Information

  • The Quercus Scholarships are open to students currently registered in, or applying for, any undergraduate/level 8 programme offered by UCC.
  • Applicant will only be able to take up a Scholarship after accepting an offer of a place at University College Cork through the CAO or the International Office.
  • Each Scholar’s participation in the programme will be reviewed and assessed annually. To progress in the programme, Scholars will be expected to demonstrate continuing exceptional achievement in their talent area, and satisfactory academic performance. There will be a managed exit from the programme for students who do not progress.
