Scholarship Overview

The Rhodes Trust is a nonprofit educational organisation that cultivates outstanding individuals who are frustrated with the status quo and courageous enough to take action. The Rhodes Trust recognise that for many of us, the status quo is not good enough and we are looking for new ideas, new models and new approaches. It provides funding, mentorship and training to those who wish to make a difference in the world. More than 4,500 Rhodes Scholars are still living in more than 100 different nations. The prestigious scholarship program gives talented students from various countries and cultures the opportunity to study at Oxford University, one of the oldest and most prestigious universities in the world. When deciding which applicants for a scholarship are chosen, there is no such thing as a "type." In actuality, the Scholarship's variety contributes to its strength. The selection process is rigorous and candidates must pass a test, have an outstanding academic record, and be a citizen of a country in the British Commonwealth. Finding out if you are qualified to apply and you should apply is the next step if you have read about the Rhodes Scholarship and believe it is a good fit for you.

Rhodes Scholarship at Oxford University

The Rhodes Scholarship program is the oldest (established 1903) international scholarship program in the world, and one of the most prestigious Administered by the Rhodes Trust in Oxford. This scholarship was initially funded by a British businessman and politician named Cecil Rhodes. The first scholarships were awarded to 32 students from 16 countries in 1907. The Rhodes Scholarship was established in 1903 at Oxford University in England by the will of Cecil John Rhodes. The program offers 100 fully-funded Scholarships each year for postgraduate study at the University of Oxford in the United Kingdom - one of the world’s leading universities. The scholarship covers all aspects of a student's personal and academic life, including tuition, healthcare, accommodation, and an allowance to help towards living expenses. Rhodes Scholarships are for young leaders of outstanding intellect and character who are motivated to engage with global challenges, committed to the service of others, and show promise of becoming value-driven, principled leaders for the world’s future. Rhodes Scholars are leaders who have shown strength in their academic achievements, but also in their commitment to service.
