Scholarship Overview

School of Life Sciences (SLS) Excellence Awards is applicable to only Masters courses. This is a merit based scholarship. School of Life Sciences (SLS) Excellence Awards award up to Pound 14,975 one time to various international students. The number of students to be awarded this scholarship are 3 each year. To be eligible for this scholarship students need to appear for IELTS and PTE.Students must have passed 12th and Undergraduate degree to be eligible for this scholarship. All international students irrespective of their Nationality can apply for a School of Life Sciences (SLS) Excellence Awards. If an applicant has already received a free bursary or has applied for another scholarship offered by the university, then he/she is not eligible for this scholarship. All international students are auto-considered for these scholarships when they apply for the courses that have scholarships.

Eligibility

Qualification requirements:

  • MSc Biotechnology, Bioprocessing and Business Management: candidates must have obtained at least a second class honours degree, or an equivalent qualification, in Life Sciences, Engineering or Business Studies (students from an engineering or business background must be a high class student and demonstrate an interest in biological science)
  • MSc Medical Biotechnology and Business Management: candidates must have obtained at least a second class honours degree, or an equivalent qualification, in Life Sciences or Business Studies (students with a business background must be a high class student and demonstrate an interest in biological science).
  • MSc Environmental Bioscience in a Changing Climate, MSc Food Security and MSc Sustainable Crop Production: Agronomy for the 21st Century: candidates must have obtained at least a second class honours degree, or an equivalent qualification, in a scientific or another appropriate discipline.
  • Candidates with an HND (or equivalent) with two or more years relevant post qualification experience will also be considered, as will candidates with good honours degrees in other disciplines who can show proof of satisfactory numeracy and a strong interest in science
  • English Language requirements are based on the following minimum standards:

    • IELTS (International English Language Testing System) with a minimum score of 6.5 (with no component score below 6.0)
    • PTE (Academic) with a minimum score of 62
  • The Scholarship Review Panel will assess both academic achievement and the supporting statement when awarding.
  • Applicants should have an offer to study on a School of Life Sciences full-time taught MSc course
  • For conditional offer-holders, scholarship awards will also be conditional on achieving any language requirements and the awardee's final predicted grade.
