Scholarship Overview

National University of Singapore offers the Science & Technology Undergraduate Scholarship. Every semester, the International Students Office of National University of Singapore awards scholarships to degree-seeking students who have specified financial needs. Note that a large portion of the scholarship funds come from International student tuition. Science & Technology Undergraduate Scholarship is applicable for Bachelors Degree. The award is applicable for the courses like BSc (Hons) in Life Sciences. If we consider the amount of the Science & Technology Undergraduate Scholarship, then it varies each semester. The applicants should review the scholarship application in order to fully understand the availability and amount for that particular semester. Students must have taken the 12th grade to be eligible for this scholarship. To be eligible for this award, international students must take English language examinations as well as standardised exams like TOEFL, IELTS, SAT. As part of the selection process, students must attend an interview.

• Applicants must be applying for admission to a full-time undergraduate degree program in Computing, Engineering, or Science (excluding Environmental studies and Pharmacy) at NUS
• The scholarship is tenable for undergraduate studies in Information Systems, Computer Science, Information Security, Business Analytics, Biomedical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Engineering Science, Environmental Engineering, Industrial & Systems Engineering, Material Science & Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Science majors only (excluding Environmental Studies and Pharmacy). This includes Chemistry, Data Science and Analytics, Data Science and Economics, Food Science and Technology, Life Sciences, Mathematics, Pharmaceutical Science, Physics, Quantitative Finance, and Statistics at NUS

• The scholarship amount includes-
  • Tuition fees (after MOE Tuition Grant Subsidy) and compulsory fees - 17965
  • Annual living allowance- S$6,000
  • One-time settling-in allowance upon enrolment- S$200
  • S$1,750 one-time computer allowance upon enrolment
  • Annual on-campus accommodation allowance equivalent to the lowest double room rate- $3872
  • One-way air passage from home country to Singapore at the beginning of the course of study, and return air passage from Singapore to home country at the end of the course
• The scholarship will be monitored and renewed every semester provided the scholar maintains a Cumulative Average Point (CAP) of at least 3.5 (or equivalent) and good conduct

Eligibility

• Applicants must
  • Have completed Indian Standard 12 (CBSE/ISCE/State and other boards) with a good pass in 5 subjects including English
  • Year 12 or higher level pass in any two of the following: Biology, Chemistry, Computing, Physics, Physical Science, either Mathematics or Further Mathematics
  • Be citizens of an Asian country, excluding Singapore
  • Have strong leadership qualities and potential
  • Present excellent co-curricular activities records
  • Possess outstanding high school results
• SAT is required with certain conditions:
  • Evidence-Based Reading and Writing-600, and 650 for Mathematics
  • Applicants are required to submit 3 subject tests as follows:
    • Mathematics Level 2 is a compulsory subject for all courses
    • The second subject of their choice (excluding Mathematics Level 1)
    • The third subject of their choice (excluding Mathematics Level 1)
• Recipients of the scholarship (scholars) are required to serve a six-year bond with a Singapore-registered company immediately upon graduation

Application Process:

• All applicants for undergraduate admission to NUS will be considered automatically for the scholarship through their applications for admission
• Applicants will be assessed on their suitability for the scholarship, based on the strength of their applications and/or their performance in the scholarship selection interview(s), if shortlisted
• Applicants shortlisted for the selection interview(s) will be informed via e-mail and will be required to provide a submission furnishing their co-curricular activity and other achievements, and a personal statement, before the interview(s)
• Selection interviews will be conducted and shortlisted candidates will be informed of the scholarship outcomes by mid-July

Students will be auto-considered for this scholarship when they apply for the courses on which this scholarship is applicable. No separate application is needed.
