Eligibility

  • Applicants can apply if you have completed your first degree (e.g. Bachelor’s or Diplom) at the latest by the time the funding period begins.
  • IELTS: As per Unversity requirement
  • A whole postgraduate or Master's degree programme completed at a state or state-recognised university in Germany
    or
  • One year of study in Germany as part of a second or Master's degree completed at your home university. The general condition is that the academic credits you gain in Germany are recognised by your home university. Moreover, the standard period of study at your home university should not be exceeded as a result of the study year in Germany.
  • A Master's degree programme already started in Germany cannot be funded

  • The Selection criteria are:
    • Academic qualification

  • Letter of Motivation: Statement about academic and personal reasons for the planned study project in Germany (1-3 pages)
  • CV: Full curriculum vitae in tabular form
  • LOR: one recent reference from a university teacher providing information about your qualifications (hand-signed, no digital or scanned signature); please enclose the reference with your postal application in a sealed envelope
  • Letter of acceptance from University
  • A portfolio of work samples 
  • Official transcripts including School leaving and College leaving Certificate from school to Bachelor level
  • A declaration (form)  that the designs/plans have been produced or created by the applicant or the names of those persons involved in producing collaborative designs or plans. In the case of collaborative work or projects, the applicant's own contribution must be marked as such or appropriately described
  • Proof of German language proficiency according to the European Framework of References for Languages or the Test-DaF for study programs in German
  • The cover letter generated after submitting an online application has to be submitted by post
