Cornell University and the Tata Trust partnership provide students with a wide range of scholarships to pursue a professional degree program. Indian students who are enrolled in the Graduate Degree Program at the Cornell University of New York are eligible to enroll and can fill out the application form for Tata Scholarship- at Cornell University. Tata Group is providing scholarships and inviting applications from interested candidates. Most suitable Indian students are selected for the Tata Scholarship and will be provided with the scholarship for the duration of their complete duration of undergraduate studies at Cornell, NY. 

Tata Scholarship for Cornell University

Tata Education and Development Trust launched a scholarship that allows Cornell University to provide financial aid to undergraduate students from India. The Tata Education and Development Trust is associated with the Tata Group and helps Indian students by dividing the financial load of the students who are willing to sharpen their skills and prepare well for a bright future. The Tata Education and Development Trust, a philanthropic affiliate of India’s Tata Group provide around a $25 million endowment to students. The scholarship is offered to ensure that the very best Indian students have access to Cornell University, regardless of their financial circumstances.

The need-based financial aid is awarded annually and recipients will receive the scholarship for the entire duration of their undergraduate studies at Cornell University. Recipients of the Tata Scholarship should be assured that the Tata Education and Development Trust is fully committed to providing aid as long as the student has a financial need to complete his undergraduate degree at Cornell University. Approx. 20 scholars can take the advantage of Tata Scholarship Fund at any given time and will ensure that the best ones have access to Cornell, regardless of their financial circumstances. Mr. Tata is one of the world's most respected business leaders, and the Tata Group is one of India’s oldest, largest, and most respected business empires.

Eligibility Criteria for Tata Scholarship

  •       Nationality: Must be an Indian citizen/resident.
  •       Completed senior secondary school in India.
  •       Financial Requirement: Must qualify for need-based financial aid.
  •       English Language Proficiency: Score of TOEFL or IELTS.
  •       TOEFL-iBT: 100
  •       IELTS: 7.0
  •       Admission Status: Offer letter from Cornell University for any degree program.

Application Process for Cornell University Tata Scholarship

Undergraduate applicants who have completed the admission application and have applied for financial aid can take advantage of the Tata Scholarship. All undergraduate applicants must apply for financial aid by completing the international students' financial aid application process. Students need to check the below documents to apply for international financial aid.

  •       Complete the College Scholarship Service PROFILE (Cornell’s CSS code is 2098).
  •       Submit other information requested by the Office of Financial Aid.

  • The scholarship will be awarded annually; recipients will receive the scholarship for the duration of their undergraduate studies at Cornell
  • With the exception of the five-year program in architecture, which requires ten semesters of full-time enrollment, it provides up to eight semesters of funding only
  • Funding for additional semesters due to double majors or dual degrees is not available

Preference will be given to following candidates:

  • The Tata Scholarship selection process gives preference to qualified students accepted to the following programs: 

    • College of Architecture, Art and Planning
    • College of Engineering
    • Applied Economics and Management major in the Cornell SC Johnson College of Business
    • Majors across colleges in the biological sciences, physical sciences, and other sciences, as well as the social sciences

  • Undergraduate applicants eligible for the Tata Scholarship will be considered if they complete the admission application and apply for financial aid

  • All applicants must apply for financial aid by completing the CSS Profile

Students will be auto-considered for this scholarship when they apply for the courses on which this scholarship is applicable. No separate application is needed.
