The Ronald J. Hill Fund is offered by the University of Essex to international students. The Ronald J.   • The department of Government is offering a bursary of £3,000 to assist one postgraduate student within the department of Government to assist with tuition fees or living costs

Eligibility

  • Applicants must have received a conditional firm, or unconditional firm offer, to study a full-time Postgraduate course, within the Department of Government, at the University of Essex starting in academic year 2023-24
  • Applicants need to have accepted their offer to be considered for this award
  • Applicants must have achieved a 2:1, or higher, in their undergraduate degree
  • Applicants must be able to demonstrate a financial need

  • Selection will be based on the eligibility and the information and supporting statements that students provide as part of the application process
  • An initial review will take place to ensure applications meet the criteria listed. All applications that meet the criteria will be passed to a panel within the department of Government
  • As part of the application, students will be required to submit the following –
    • A 300-word statement about why the bursary would be beneficial to you
    • One-page curriculum vitae
    • UG transcript and/or degree certificate
  • Students must fill an application form and submit it to govpgquery@essex.ac.uk

Additional Information

  • Students must accept their offer of the bursary within two weeks of an offer being made, otherwise the offer will be forfeited and awarded to next eligible candidate
  • If you have been offered a bursary but request to defer your entry, you will not be able to transfer the bursary to the following year, but instead will have to apply under the terms and conditions for your new year of entry if the bursary is still available
  • All payments will be suspended during a period of approved leave of absence (intermission) where this period covers a whole or part of an academic year
  • Other University of Essex awards can be held in conjunction with this bursary
  • Successful applicants should be available for promotional activities
