University of Bristol Vice-Chancellor's Scholarship is offered by the University of Bristol . University of Bristol Vice-Chancellor's Scholarship is awarded to Bachelors Degree students who can demonstrate excellent academic achievement and the potential to contribute to the university community. This Merit Based scholarship will be given on a yearly basis. The scholarship amount can be used for tuition. The maximum scholarship amount a student can get is GBP 3000. . Students will be auto-considered for this scholarship if they apply for the courses on which this scholarship is applicable. In this case, they need not submit a separate application for applying to this scholarship. As part of the selection process, students must attend an interview.

  • Vice-Chancellor’s Scholarship will range between £1,100 and £3,000 per annum for at least the first three years of study
  • Awards are split into three equal installment
  • Further conditions of the next installment are:
    • Students need to become a member of the Performance Squad and part of the University Performance programme
    • Students need to submit a termly report to the Student Funding Office outlining the contribution they have made during the previous term
  • A further condition for the renewable of awards for next year are:
    • Students should satisfactorily progress through to the next year of study on their chosen course and become a member of Performance Squad

  • Applicants must be able to demonstrate outstanding artistic, creative or sporting potential
  • A student might apply for other scholarships the holder of a Vice-Chancellor’s award for sport must not hold other funded sporting grants
  • Students shortlisted for a scholarship will be required to attend an interview with the Performance Sports staff to assess suitability for the award and becoming a member of the Performance Sports Squad

Additional Information

Selection Process:

  1. The University's Student Funding Office will collate all Vice-Chancellor's Scholarship applications and send to the music, drama or sport departments for consideration.
  2. Each department will assess applications and determine whether each one is recommended for an offer, placed on a reserve list or marked unsuccessful.
  3. Applications that are recommended for an offer or placed on a reserve list are ranked in order.
  4. Ranked applications will be sent to the Pro Vice-Chancellors for final approval.
  5. If you are offered a Vice-Chancellor's Scholarship, you must confirm your acceptance of the award by emailing the Student Funding Office before you start your course at Bristol.
  6. If you decline the offer of a Vice-Chancellor's Scholarship award, the award will be offered to a reserve applicant.
  7. If you are placed on a reserve list and have not been made an offer by September, your application has not been successful.
  8. The selection panel's decision is final and there is no appeal process for this discretionary fund. Due to the high volume of applications, the departments are not able to offer individual feedback.

Selection process for Sports Scholarship:

  • Students shortlisted for a scholarship will be required to attend a group interview with Performance Sport staff to assess your suitability for the award and becoming a member of the Performance Sports squad.
  • The interview is likely to take place during the Easter period. Shortlisted candidates will be contacted with details of the interview.
  • Following this interview, you will be informed if you have been selected to receive the Vice-Chancellor's Scholarship.

For the sport scholarship,you will be expected to become a member of your sporting club, compete in BUCS league and attend the Performance Squad residential week in September in the year of entry.
