Scholarship Overview

Vice-Chancellor International Scholarships Scheme are offered at The University of Sydney to those international students who are pursuing a Bachelors Degree. This is a Merit Based Scholarship, which is provided to only maximum number of students, depending on the University student. Vice-Chancellor International Scholarships Scheme are valued at AUD 40000 for maximum number of students, depending on the University student who qualify from The University of Sydney. Also, the Vice-Chancellor International Scholarships Scheme is a one time tuition reducing scholarship, offered in the first year of Bachelors Degree only. Applications for Vice-Chancellor International Scholarships Scheme at The University of Sydney are filed separately. To be eligible for this scholarship students must have appeared for 12th grade. International students seeing to avail this scholarship need to appear for English proficiency tests like TOEFL, IELTS and PTE. Students will require the following documentation to apply for the scholarship: Official Transcripts. Along with the Vice-Chancellor International Scholarships Scheme application. The eligibility of the students to qualify for Vice-Chancellor International Scholarships Scheme would solely depend on the applicant’s admission to The University of Sydney Bachelors Degree, his/her aptitude for an overall contribution towards The University of Sydney community and of course the academic achievements.

Eligibility

  • Applicants:
    • must have passed 12th with one of the following:
      • India - CBSE - 11.0 - All India Senior School Certificate awarded by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). Total of the best four externally examined subjects, where A1=5, A2=4.5, B1=3.5, B2=3, C1=2, C2=1.5, D1=1, D2=0.5
      • Indian School Certificate - 81% -Indian School Certificate awarded by the Council for Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE). The required score is the average of the best four subjects, including English.
      • India HSSC 6 States: 75% - Average of the best five academic subjects in the Higher Secondary School Certificate (HSSC) in the states of Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu and West Bengal. The requirement is higher for other states.
      • Assumed knowledge - 
        • Mathematics Standard
        • Biology
  • A minimum result of 6.5 overall and a minimum result of 6.0 in each band
  • A minimum result of 85 overall including a minimum result of 17 in Reading, Listening and Speaking and 19 in Writing
  • A minimum result of 61 overall and a minimum result of 54 in each band
  • Students also must:
    • be an international student
    • have applied for but not yet commenced a bachelor’s degree or a coursework master’s degree that is a CRICOS registered award program usually delivered onshore at the University of Sydney
    • receive an unconditional offer of admission by the relevant close date.

Preference will be given to following candidates:

  • The Scholarship will be awarded on the basis of academic merit as assessed from a student’s application for admission to an undergraduate or postgraduate coursework degree.
  • The Scholarship will be awarded on the nomination of a selection committee consisting of two nominees of the Executive Director, Sydney Future Students and one nominee of the Admissions Office.

Additional Information

  • The Scholarship will be awarded on the basis of academic merit as assessed from a student’s application for admission to an undergraduate degree
  • The Scholarship will be awarded on the nomination of a selection committee consisting of two nominees of the Executive Director, Sydney Future Students, and one nominee of the Admissions Office
  • Scholarship recipients may be invited to promote the program in which they are enrolled as well as represent the University of Sydney at student orientation, marketing events, and corporate networking events
  • The Scholarship will be terminated if the recipient:
    • withdraws from an eligible course or fails to enrol
    • becomes a domestic student
    • commences part-time study without prior approval
    • does not maintain satisfactory academic performance
    • is determined by the University to be guilty of serious misconduct, including, but not limited to, having provided false or misleading information as part of their Scholarship application
    • has accepted another scholarship administered by the University of Sydney (funded by the University or by a third party), of a value at or exceeding A$10,000 per annum
    • does not resume study at the end of a period of approved leave, or
    • any other provision as indicated in these terms that would lead to termination
  • Where a student is found guilty of serious misconduct or withdraws from the relevant course, the University reserves the right to request that any Scholarship funds paid to the Scholarship recipient be reimbursed
