Scholarship Overview

York Science Scholars Award is applicable to only Bachelors courses. This is a merit based scholarship. York Science Scholars Award award up to CAD 10,000 one time to various international students. The number of students to be awarded this scholarship Varies each year. To be eligible for this scholarship students need to appear for TOEFL, IELTS and PTE.Students must have passed 12th and to be eligible for this scholarship. All international students irrespective of their Nationality can apply for a York Science Scholars Award . If an applicant has already received a free bursary or has applied for another scholarship offered by the university, then he/she is not eligible for this scholarship. All international students are auto-considered for these scholarships when they apply for the courses that have scholarships.

• York Science Scholars will receive a $10,000 entrance scholarship which will be awarded in two parts
• The first as an entrance scholarship and the second part once the experiential component is successfully completed.
• The first $5,000 will be awarded upon full-time enrolment to York University?s Faculty of Science
• The second part is linked to the 12-week experiential component of the YSSA program, overseen by a Faculty of Science professor during the summer following the recipients first year of study.

Eligibility

Qualification requirements:

• Completion of one of the following:
  • All-India Senior School Certificate (AISSCE)
  • Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC)
  • Indian School Certificate (ISC)
  • Intermediate Examination Certificate
  • Pre-University Examination Certificate
• Grade XII graduation with minimum overall average of 60% is required to be considered for most programs - minimum 5 academic courses
• Some programs require a higher average
• Prerequisite courses Biology, Chemistry and Math should not be below a grade of 55%.
• High academic achievement (minimum 80% admission average or equivalent)
• demonstrated passion for science and community service, demonstrated leadership skills
• desire to make a difference for their communities and demonstrated involvement beyond academics
• Recipients must achieve a B+ average during the first year of study in order to be eligible for the experiential component
• English language requirements i.e TOEFL score 100, IELTS overall score 7.5
