This scholarship is offered at La Trobe University at the Melbourne campus to only one female student of Indian origin valued at AUD 225,000. Shah Rukh Khan La Trobe University PhD Scholarship is one of the most popular scholarships at the University because over 800 applicants have registered to express their interest to date. 

Despite halting operations at the university amidst COVID-19, the scholarship has been introduced again in 2022. The deadline to submit an expression of interest (EOI) for obtaining the Shah Rukh Khan La Trobe University PhD Scholarship in 2023 is September 23, 2022. The very first recipient of this scholarship was announced earlier this year in 2022. The scholarship was awarded to Gopika Kottantharayil Bhasi, who was chosen from a pool of 800 applicants. She hails from Kerala and would pursue her research in improving agricultural science techniques in India.

Candidates interested in applying for the Shah Rukh Khan La Trobe University PhD Scholarship will have to fulfil the following given eligibility criteria to qualify for this scholarship. More details are as follows: 








  • Should be a female student of Indian origin and a permanent citizen of India. 
  • Completed Master’s research degree, equivalent to La Trobe University’s degree standard of 70 or above. 
  • Chooses to do PhD from the eight designated topics only. 

The students can choose any one of the proposed eight research topics at La Trobe University in order to study under this scholarship. These topics are as follows:
