Most courses available at technical universities in Germany charge an administration fee (€300-500 euros) at the start of every semester. Public universities in Germany do not charge tuition fees to EU and Non-EU students studying in the country. However, getting admission to public universities is an uphill task. Technical Universities in Munich – Cost of Living

International students looking to study in Germany are mandated to open a Blocked Account. The blocked account would have the money required by students as living expenses for an entire academic year. Students should note that the amount in the blocked account (living cost in Germany) is decided by the government keeping the cost of items(inflation) in mind. Students would be required to open an account with a local bank in India with a Blocked Account facility. Once the student departs to Germany, the bank would transfer the amount to a local bank in Germany in a blocked account to be utilized as living costs in Germany.

As of September 1, 2022, keeping the inflation rate in mind, the mandatory amount required in the German Blocked Account for studying in Germany is €11,172 for an entire year or €931 for a month. Candidates would have to keep a little more than the said amount as the bank could levy a service charge on the student opening a Blocked Account in Germany. For a student, the money kept in the German Blocked Account should ideally cover accommodation, living expenses, and even travel pass costs.
