Texas State University is home to undergraduate and postgraduate students from more than 80 nations and offers 200+ programs for international students. The minimum GPA requirements for Texas State University varies based on the number of transfer credit hours completed. For applicants with 14 or fewer transfer credit hours, a 2.0 Cumulative GPA is necessary while meeting freshman admission standards. If you have 15 to 29 transfer credithours, a 2.5 cumulative GPA is required. However, for individuals with 30 or more transfer credit hours, a 2.25 Cumulative GPA is the minimum. Applicants must check their credit scores before applying to Texas State University to avoid confusion. 

The university has a mandatory application fee of USD 90 for all international students. The application fee is non-refundable. However, students can request a fee waiver if they need financial assistance. However, international students are not eligible for fee waiver at Texas State University. Students are required to deposit the application fee at the time of document submission during application.

• Resume: Applicants are asked to submit their resume, defining their experience in the field of CS. However, they can also mention the projects they worked on. 

• 3 LORs:  Applicants are suggested to submit 3 LORs with particular recommendations from their previous degrees. 

• The Computer Science program requires an official Graduate Record Exam (GRE) score to be submitted prior to admission consideration with a preferred score of 286 with no less than 140 on the verbal section (effective Fall 2015) and 148 on the quantitative section.However GRE can be waived off if you hold a master’s degree from an accredited US institution

• Applicants are asked for a background requirements as mentioned below:

• Foundations of Computer Science I (CS 1428)

• Foundations of Computer Science II (CS 2308)

• Assembly Language (CS 2318)

• Computer Architecture (CS 3339)

• Data Structures and Algorithms (CS 3358)

• Program Translators (CS 4318) or Operating Systems (CS 4328)

• 6 hours of advanced computer science electives.

No grade below a C in:

• Discrete Mathematics (MATH 5358 or equivalent)

• Calculus I (MATH 2471)

• Calculus II (MATH 2472)
