Hi,
Let me break it down for you:
Ranking: SRM ranks 11 on the list of the best private sector colleges in India while Manipal is off the charts. Infrastructure & facilities: SRM boasts a 250 acre campus in Chennai which is the biggest of its kind with a 100 mbps network connection spread throughout out the campus. Aeronautical hanger: SRM holds an aeronautical hanger which consists of:
A computational fluid dynamics laboratory with standard software has been established
A subsonic research wind tunnel with hot wire anemometer, pressure scanner and precision manometers is available
A full-fledged aerospace structural mechanics laboratory i

Hi,
Theoretically speaking, both are similar courses. Proportion of placements vis-a-vis pass out is similar in both branches. However in India core jobs for aeronautical engineering graduates are very less. They changeover to software or do MBA or go abroad. They are not employable on main of civil aircraft since it requires DGCA license. I would therefore rec mechanical engineering as compared with aeronautical engineering.

Hello,
His percentile is too low to get admission in any good engineering college with a specified branch, I would suggest you to ask him to prepare for the exam again that will be held in April and best of two scores will be counted, so it's the best chance for him to improve his score.

Hello Ankan Dad, IIST admits students based on JEE Advanced along with IIT's but the admission procedure is independent of IIT's. Hence the student has to first score above cutoff that will be declared by NTA for JEE Mains and then score reasonably well in JEE Advanced for getting admission in IIST. I am attaching a link that will give you all the required information about the cutoffs for Admission. https://www.iist.ac.in/admissions/undergraduate
Best wishes to you.

Hello Kudapa Sandeep,
Practically speaking both are one and the same in the Indian context and hence there can be nothing like number 1 & 2. Actually, Aeronautical Engineering is the correct name for educational issues and it's the aerospace industry that manufactures aero components or structures. I hope, I have explained to avoid confusion. Best wishes to you.

Hello Ankan, I am afraid, the opportunities for engineers of this branch in India are quite less. Only DRDO & ISRO are the two organisations who offer employment in the core branch. Jobs in private industries are almost non-existent. Of course as an engineer many are employed but it's not core branch job. The details of Salary or package in both government bodies is as per VII CPC and is quite attractive. I am attaching a link that will give you some idea. https://www.glassdoor.co.in/Salary/ISRO-Indian-Space-Research-Organization-Salaries-E340212.htm
Best wishes to you.

Hello Ganesh, It's indeed great to hear from you that you are interested in doing aeronautical engineering after completion of your Diploma. Yes, you can get admission via lateral mode in the college in your state offering this branch based on your Diploma results. In addition, IIT's too allow Diploma holders to compete along with 12th pass students for admission in their aeronautical engineering courses. You need to clear JEE Mains and JEE Advanced for this. Best wishes to you.

You should have a rank around 1500 so that you can securely get aerospace engineering. Also, alternatively you can take any of the branches being given to you now and then after 1st year can change the branch on the basis of your performance in 1st year because 1st year subjects are common for all.

It seems really difficult to me that you can get aeroscope engineering with the percentile you have got.
