IIST is a government-aided institute and deemed university for the study and research of space science, located at Valiamala - Kerala. It is the first university in Asia to be solely dedicated to the study and research of outer space. Admission to both PEC Chandigarh and IIST is through JEE Mains. You can also evaluate:

Both the universities are good for aerospace engineering. Their placements are good and almost same. SRM is slightly good as compared to UPES in aerospace engineering as they have their own integrated labs for this. UPES is also good and they also have infrastructure but their placement is less as compared to SRM.

Aerospace engineering involves design and manufacturing of the aircraft and its components.
Aircraft maintenance engineering generally involves working with the maintenance crew to ensure that the aircraft is flying in the good condition.
