The bench accepted the recommendation that students who have cleared all previous examinations and are eligible to be in the final semester, on the production of proof of such eligibility, should be allowed to take the All-India Bar Examination. Final semester law students, on the production of eligibility proof, should be allowed to take the All-India Bar Examination, although the result would be subject to the student passing all the components of the college examination, a Constitution Bench of the Supreme Court said.

A candidate has to attempt AIBE exam within 2 years of completing their Law degrees in order to obtain a Certificate to practice. There is no prescribed upper age limit for writing AIBE exam. There are no restrictions on the number of times a candidate can appear for the All India Bar examination and candidates are eligible to write AIBE XVII (17) 2023 examination any number of times.

AIBE is a closed-book exam, meaning, books and study materials are not allowed in the examination. The bar examination is no longer an open book examination. Therefore, candidates appearing for AIBE XIX should be careful of choosing best books for AIBE preparation. However, getting best books for AIBE examination can become a challenge as the syllabus is vast.

Those admitted as advocates by any State Bar Council are eligible for a Certificate of Enrolment. Candidates can get the soft copy of their Certificate of Practice (CoP) from the official AIBE app - AIBESCOPE, available for android and iOs phones. The Certificate of Practice mentions important details such as name of the candidate, enrollment number, enrollment date and other related information.

The cut offs of any exam or particularly AIBE's is determined once the answer key is released. However, there is a minimum requirement of marks to qualify the exam which is:
General or OBC category have to obtain 40% of the total marks whereas ST or SC have to obtain 35% of the total marks.

Candidates can get the soft copy of their Certificate of Practice (CoP) from the official AIBE app available for android and iOs phones. The Certificate of Practice mentions important details such as name of the candidate, enrollment number, enrollment date and other related information. On March 30, 2022, it published the Certificate of Practice (CoPs) for AIBE XVI (16) 2021.

It is mentioned under the conditions for Right to Practise under Section 49 (1) (ah) of the Advocates ACT 1961. No advocate enrolled under section 24 of the Advocates ACT 1961 shall be entitled to practice under Chapter IV of the Advocates ACT 1961, unless such advocate successfully passes the All India Bar Examination conducted by the Bar Council of India. It is clarified that the Bar Examination shall be mandatory for all law students graduating from academic year 2009-2010 onwards and enrolled as advocates under Section 24 of the Advocates ACT 1961.
