Hello Anshul,
A.M.E. Is a three year degree course. After the completion of this, a student can obtain licence from DGCA to work as maintenance engineer on aircraft. Licence is not part of the three year course but invariably all the colleges offering this course, enable and help students obtain this licence. Best wishes to you.

Hello Rupesh, A.M.E. Or Aircraft Maintenance Engineer course is a three year course leading to the degree of B.Sc. After the course, a student is enabled to get licence from DGCA. After this, one can get a job of maintenance of aircraft. Presently in India, air passenger as well as air cargo traffic is growing at the rate of about 15% per annum. This has resulted in almost all the civil airlines operating from India are acquiring aircraft in large numbers. Thus in tern has increased the requirement of licenced A.M.E. Hello Samadhan,
Salaries of aircraft maintenance engineers who are employed by civil Airlines is quite good. It ranges from about 4 lacs per annum to 7 lacs per annum. It also changes from Airlines to Airlines. In addition the employees get many perks like passes to travel in their own Airlines. All in all the salaries of aircraft maintenance engineers are on the higher side as compared to other professions for freshers as well as for those with experience. Best wishes to you.

Hello Nishant,
It is very nice to know your aim of becoming an aircraft maintenance engineer. Yes, Rajiv Gandhi Aviation Academy, even though it is mainly known for different courses of Pilots training, offers different courses for aircraft maintenance engineer also. They are in the stream of basically mechanical or avionics. Its 3 years course out of which two and half years will be utilized to give theoretical training and six months will be on job training on any of the aircraft or the facility that DGCA has approved. I am attaching a link that will give you all the required information.

The major setback of this course is that it is only a certification course and not a graduation course. Thus, for any reason, if you cannot get any opportunity in this stream, you will find yourself in the midst of nowhere. The condition of the aviation sector in India is not healthy and thus there is a scarcity of opportunities. No AME institute in India can assure you of 100% placement as there is a huge competition in this world you must work hard and you can get into different fields in the same course which helps you to grow early.

There are 2 ways, you can either join in Diploma or you can prefer aeronautical engineering, where you will come to know the real basics of the maintenance of aircraft, designing and testing. So it's better to do AE.

If you are too interested in aeronautics then you can opt for aircraft maintenance engineering. As it's a very difficult subject, we must work hard. Even I'm pursuing my aeronautical engineering from NMIT College, Bangalore.
