Earlier it was called as Allahabad Agricultural Institute. As its name suggest it was one of the best colleges in agriculture courses in India. After that, they named it on its founder. Anyway, coming to the question, as some people have pointed out this college is best known for its agricultural courses all over world (and of course India!). Engineering in Agricultural from this institution means you have done a some conventional course from IITs. Recently, I visited an entrepreneur from Kerala in Mumbai. I went to meet him to discuss about my project and he was supposed to explain me some basics on Drip Irrigation. After our wonderful discussion, I was very surprised how he has such a deep knowledge and then he told me that he has done his Agricultural Engineering from AAI (SHIATS). There was so proud in his eyes. That shows the importance of that institution. Till 90s it was one of the best but slowly it has started losing its grip. Now, also its one of the best colleges in agriculture but not like it used to be before. Still, its a good shot to try at. Marks will be awarded to you with comparatively less hard work but yes placement chances are high if you compare it with the ease with which you enter in this college.
