The American University of Sharjah is ranked #364 in the QS World University Rankings 2024. It is also recognised as the #1 (tied) university in the UAE in the category of arts and humanities and third in the UAE in engineering and technology. In the Best Global Universities ranking, it is placed at #1381. AUS has also earned a Sustainability Tracking, Assessment and Rating System (STARS) silver award for sustainability in higher education from the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE).

The cost of living in the residential halls at the American University of Sharjah (AUS) for graduate students is AED 80 per day for a long stay (monthly rate), which is approximately AED 2,400 per month. The graduate tuition fees are AED 102,960 per academic year. For graduate students who wish to stay in the residence halls after graduation, the cost is AED 90 per day, which is approximately AED 2,700 per month. However, long-term rates may differ.

The American University of Sharjah offers various programs through its four academic units. International students can apply for undergraduate and postgraduate programs at AUS through the university's own admission portal. To apply at AUS applicants need to visit the program page at AUS website and click on the apply button and then proceed to fill the application form. Please make sure that you pay an application fee after submitting the form. Your application form will not be taken for evaluation if the application fee is not paid.

The American Universtiy of Sharjah gives admissions in three intakes; Summer, Fall and Spring intakes. Therefore, international students should check the admission deadlines before applying., For the Fall 2024 the last date to apply for early admission applications is Jun 13, 2024 and for regular applications last date to apply is Jul 25, 2024.

Also, AUS has been accredited in the United States of America by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education.
