Hello,
Very interesting query indeed. But, I am afraid no ready answers. Normally speaking, a student is give approximately double the standard time as max for competition of course. However, it is pretty long in your case. My advice is that please approach AMIE for revival and see what response you get. Give them reason as to why you could not continue & seek condonation. There is no such restriction in the upper age limit and Diploma passing year for doing AMIE course. So, your Diploma is fully valid for AMIE course and you can pursue the course. Further, the validity of AMIE is still a question because most of the private and PSUs are not preferring the AMIE students. However, AMIE is good for departmental promotions and UPSC exam.

The detailed information about AMIE is given below. The eligibility criteria for AMIE is 10+2 with PCM with minimum 45% of aggregate marks or 3 years engineering Diploma course. Working Experience For AMIE : Working experience is needed while registering for AMIE (Section B). In AMIE (Section A), no experience is needed. Time Limit To Complete AMIE : 6 years for AMIE (Section A) (start from date of election) + 6 years for section B (start counting immediately after passing section A). AMIE is considered to be as distance education technical degree and most of the recruiters are asked about the regular degree. Hence AMIE is not acceptable at private sectors levels because they required the students of regular stream. However AMIE have full validity in department promotions, GATE and Central government jobs. So, AMIE not banned by the court.
