Some of the roles that I can think ( to begin with )of for IT sector are:
Developer, testing engineer, network engineer, hardware engineer, system analyst, web developer, web designer, Tech support, quality teams, DBA. On the other hand there are people who have their careers in business analysis, or as a technical trainer, business development specialist. Upon a couple of years of experience, you could change your role, or move onto leader position in the same ladder too.

As far as Android is concerned it has a very awesome future ahead. Everything is going mobile these days, from shopping to clothes, booking movie tickets, booking railway tickets or to order vegetables at doorstep, etc.
Most of android developers work for the companies in India, some of them are working as freelancers and very few are working on their own ideas.
In India many companies are hiring android developers (almost 6 of 10) and startups are offering really handsome packages to smart developers.
If you have good hands on Java then it is easy to learn android development.
