There are multiple design colleges in India and abroad. Based on your financial strength, you can chose either of it. Studying abroad definitely gives you an exposure of global design spectrum with on-hands experience of being mentored by industries leading professionals and designers. However, it is suggestive to pursue Masters from abroad since by then it will give you a clear road map of what specific specialization you want to explore further. India has some great colleges too for undergrad courses in Graphic Design. Some of those are: NID (Ahmedabad), MIT (Pune), NIFT (Mumbai & Delhi), Pearl Academy (Delhi), Shrishti Institute (Ba

You can choose any stream for your 10+2 on basis of your academics strength. It doesn't really have major implication as such when you pursue your career into Graphic Design, since it is a specialized course and you would need a formal training in it post schooling. Unfortunately, the syllabus systems for schools in India have not evolved as much that could aid students to explore other areas apart from Science, arts and commerce. You can be a Science, commerce or arts student. So choose a stream that you feel more inclined based on your core academic strength. PS: If it helps, I took up commerce after my class 10th.

Besides doing it from Amity I think you should do it from Arena Animation, Mumbai. They also provide placement and since they are into this field since long they may be able to provide you with better placement as well. Initially, you may not get much of the amount but gradually when you will grow in this field you can do wonders.

VFX is much in use these days and is surely going to remain a lead requirement and part of the screen works in electronic media, films etc. There are two options that your son can keep for a career in VFX- one is to Do private level courses from academies that won't provide degree of a recognised university and the second option is to go for a graduation in Graphic, Animation and associated VFX domain. Hyderabad, Mumbai are leading places for such courses. AAFT, Symbiosis, ARENA, and many more offer B.Sc. Animation and Visual Effects etc. The basic qualification is 12th and his being from Science won't matter. He is eligible.

Hi Gautam, These two are sufficient, and if you are good, then once you start your career, you automatically will learn and acquire knowledge and expertise in your primary domain and other supporting domains. But first, you need to be good in what you are studying now, as it is the foundation being laid, and a strong foundation always helps build what ever you want.

Hi Gautam,
Design, encapsulates everything. Design has become platform independent, whether traditional platforms or digital platforms. You should be a good designer first. Parameters for different platforms are different and you need to be well versed with them. Today, I could use/convert/transform my designs for web or magazine or posters or animations. Hope this answers your question.

You have chosen fields that are fast evolving and are likely to grow very fast in the coming decade. Both are available at Bachelor level so you can do a B. Des in either transportation design or Animation & gaming design. Transportation is a wider and better choice then only automobile design. Similarly VFX is a small subset of animation and gaming. So go for courses with wider scope and go for specialised universities only. Would offers both programs which you can check on its website.
