You should not have any confusion on your department. These days, lots of institutes are available to do the course. When you have a clear vision, so you can go directly into that particular department. Otherwise, they make you choose what they are offering. This will lead you to a big disappointment, when you notice you are not in a right track, which you are interested in. First, you have to know your own interest, then decide for right course. In my opinion, BCA is better than animation, later you can apply for MCA.

Yes, there is a scope in animation even after 1 year as well, years do not matter when skill counts. If you are good in your craft, you should not worry about scope. Lots of game /animation studios are there who needs animators for their projects. Learn well, practice well, be skilled, job will be yours.
