According to the conducting board of TNEA if you have studied from 8th to 12th in other states. You will be considered eligible if satisfy any of the below mentioned criteria.
1. If you are a student born and native to Tamilnadu but studied in other state, must provide a digitally signed Nativity certificate belonging to Tamil Nadu government.
2. If you are a student belonging from other state belonging to BC category.
3. If you are a student belonging from other state and your father is a Central Government Employee working in Tamilnadu and must provide a digitally signed Residence certificate.

Among ECE and CSE, deciding which one is better depends on the person's interest. Both are equally good. If you love coding and stuff, then it'll be better to choose CSE, and if you love more of circuits and robotics, then choose ECE. Between ECE and CSE, there are higher chances of CSE getting higher pay packages. But don't get disheartened. As for campus placements, mainly IT companies visit and they pool both from ECE and CSE background depending only on your abilities. Again, both the streams will give you a lot of scope for higher studies!
In ECE, you have an additional advantage- ESE (Engineering Service Examination) covers only 4

Hello Trina,
SSN College of Engineering follows the guidelines by Anna University for admission in engineering colleges. Here the admissions are given based on guidelines issued by Anna University for 65% of the total intake and is based on the marks obtained in 12th standard by the Tamil Nadu Board of students who are to domiciled in Tamil Nadu. The remaining seats are distributed under different categories. But these too are filled up based on merit of 12th marks only. I am attaching a link that will give you all the required information in detail about the admission process and the different quotas in SSM Institute of Engineering.
