The diploma wouldn't fetch you much, especially a distance one. If you really want to make career in Astronomy and AstroPhysics, you should rather opt for M.Sc and PhD.

I don't think so that this course is available in Madurai Kamaraj University or any other distance learning university. This courses must be available in the regular university.

Hostel life at IITI is one of the best in all the IITs. Newly constructed hostel building in the permanent campus has a great infrastructure.
Facilities are also great there.

St. Xavier's College, Kolkata offers M.Sc in physics, but I don't think so, astronomy is there as a specialization.

Hi,
After failing in Maths (and even after 3 years of GAP), it's actually very difficult in get in Astro related degree. However, what you can do is to take admission in any college (may be private) in B.Sc. Physics (If you are in age limit). After B.Sc. Go for M.Sc in Astronomy Specializations.

The cut-off marks for Saint Xavier's every year changes but it is very high, always. I would request you to please mention your subject wise marks.
