Hi Vaibhavi, Both the degrees are having their own genre and forte. If you want to pursue the career in the Commercial Aviation Industry then Degree in Airlines is the good Options. On the other hand, Hospitality Industry is genre where I never found downfall rather now a days, especially in developing countries, it is growing like anything. I would like to tell you that degree in airlines are generally of 3 years duration whereas Hotel Management degree is most likely of 3 years and 4 years duration both. Although Hotel Management degree have the longest gestation period among the two but Hotel Management degree paves a way for you in both the Industries Aviation and Hospitality Industry as well. Being Punjabi we feel very fortunate that we have a very good University in Punjab ie: LPU. They provide degrees in both Airlines and Hotel Management. Earlier Eligibility criteria was to qualify the Entrance Exam LPU NEST and Interview also but now due to present circumstances of COVID-19 they relaxed it. Now you do not need to qualify the LPU NEST and Interview. Thus, to provide the convenience to candidates due to COVID-19 they relaxed the eligibility also. GFTS has an average student intake of 20-25 per batch for CPL program. The duration of CPL course is approximately 24 months which includes compulsory minimum flying requirement of 200 hours (as per DGCA guidelines). The CPL program also include theoretical courses in Air Regulation, Air Navigation, Meteorology,Aircraft General, Technical specific Aircraft & Engines.
Eligibility criteria (CPL) :
1. Min Age 17 Yrs.
2. 10 + 2 Passed with Physics and Maths from recognized board or equivalent.
3. 200 hours flying training followed by passing practical and written exams.
4. Duration 24 months.
5. No maximum age but not advisable for candidates above 35 years due to cut off age for airline recruitment.
MEDICAL FITTNESS : Should possess good physique /eye sight and should be medically fit as per the standards laid down in the Indian Aircraft Rules. Candidates are required to undergo Medical Examination with a DGCA approved Medical Practitioner / Medical Board and found fit. Fitness is subject to the assessment by the Director General of Civil Aviation New Delhi.
