When a student seeks admission in an institute for a particular course, whether he will get admission or not is determined by his position in the merit list & whether he fulfills eligibility criteria or not. Once a student clears JEE Advanced he is cleared to seek admission in any undergraduate course conducted by any of the IIT's. His AIR will decide whether he gets admission or not. For the branches you have mentioned, eligibility criteria is same and hence your merit list number only will decide your admission. Avionics is concerned with flying Aeroplanes, aviation deals with the design, development, production, operation and maintenance of heavier-than-air aircrafts.
AME (Aircraft Maintenance Engineering) is a technical training course (3 years long) that will help you acquire an aircraft maintenance engineer license (issued by the DGCA).
