For any teaching job, you need more than just a BA in any subject. For school teaching, you will need a Bachelors degree in education whereas for college teaching, you will need a Masters degree in arts. Regarding the question, which subjects would help in getting government teaching jobs, I would say a subject which you love to study, you will also enjoy teaching the same. So find which subject you would love to study. As for job opportunities in government teaching jobs, look into the newspaper wherever you are based and look into the employment opportunities available into the field in which you are interested.
