Some universities are now inviting applications for B.Ed. courses for students from other states in accordance with the policies and admission processes of the institution. The eligibility requirement usually includes having obtained at least 50 per cent marks in a bachelor's/master's degree. The total course fee for a two-year B.Ed course in government colleges is between INR 50,000 and INR 1,00,000, while the fee structure for private institutions may range from INR 1,50,000 to INR 2,50,000 for the whole course.The course is intended as preparation for a qualified teacher and is recognised as a hold for school employment all over the country. 

In Karnataka, various universities offer B.Ed. programmes through correspondence or distance learning. The notable institutions that provide B.Ed. are the Karnataka State Open University, Mysuru which provides B.Ed. in distance mode, and IGNOU with a regional centre in Bengaluru, that provides B.Ed. through distance education. The University of Mysore also offers B.Ed. through distance learning and Bangalore University offers a distance education programme for B.Ed., subject to the approval. Prior to applying to the program, one must check the eligibility criteria and course details together with whether the programme was approved from the respective university.
