B.Sc Biotechnology

To be honest, there is no such thing as a career in biotechnology after B.Sc Biotechnology. It is just a stepping stone to higher studies. Biotechnology is a highly research intensive field and hence there are not many opportunities after B.Sc Biotechnology. However, there are industries which take up B.Sc Biotechnology graduates for doing menial jobs in production and quality control as they can pay them less to work more. It is a good point in life switch career if you want quick bucks, as if you go by the B.Sc M.Sc and Ph.D route it will take ages for you earn in India. Also, post B.Sc you can try clinical research Diplomas, which can land you in a decent job. Also, one can try a hand at medical coding.

B.Sc Biotechnology course is a 3 years long course. Biotechnology is a combination of two subjects- Biology and Technology. Hence this is combination of Biology and Engineering and aims at putting concepts of both these subjects together. The eligibility criteria for this course is 12th with PCB/PCM. Many private businesses are exploring this field and heavily investing in it. Most of the job opportunities for Biotechnology graduates in private sector. Government sector too offers job opportunities, but not in the scale in which private sector does. Few prominent industries where Biotechnology professionals may find jobs are- Pharmaceuticals Industry, Healthcare sector, Chemical Industry and Research sector. Bachelor of Pharmacy B.Pharma is an undergraduate degree course of 4 years of duration in the field of Pharmacy education. The students who are interested in the medical field (Medicines) can choose this course after the completion of class 12th (PCM/B). After the completion of this degree, the students can practice as a Pharmacist. Pharmacists can work in a range of industries related to the prescription, manufacture & provision of medicines. B.Pharma is a job oriented course, hence I would like to go with this.
