As you have done B.Tech, you have multiple choices when you plan to study a postgraduate degree abroad. You can opt for a Master's programme in the core engineering or allied subjects. Therefore, you can consider joining the college if you have no other better college to get admission in or in case you want to enjoy beautiful campus located in a hill station.

This is an autonomous institute and is located in the prime location of South India which is home to a large number of global and national corporates and is called the Silicon Valley of India. The difference where the students create is primarily based on the branch chosen. Though MS Ramaiah Institute of Technology is working well under the funding of state government and regarded as one if the preferred institution but when it comes to telecommunication then RV College of Engineering has a placement plus point when compared regarding CSE. Though telecommunication branch is also a technical branch and finds a wide scope at the global perspective still the recent record shows the lead of CSE from RV College of Engineering. It is advisable to definitely go with CSE from RV College of engineering although one may go with telecommunication if one is having the passion for the same. The average placement from MS Ramaiah Institute of Technology in telecommunication is 7 Lacs per annum with 14 Lacs being the highest. Whereas from RV College of engineering, the placements on an average are of 10 Lacs per annum with 22 Lacs being the highest in the recent placement drives. RNS Institute of Technology located in the corporate city of Bangalore. When it comes to placements, many companies visit the campus for recruitment drive every year. This year, the following companies visited this college:
ICICI bank, Sony, igate, Airtel, sap, TCS, etc. The college is not up to the mark in academics and can be only compared to private colleges of its level. Also, the college does not have a benchmark achievement in developing its particular department and lacks in the effortless working to be on the top of the list. One has to maintain a CGPA of above 9 to prove him or her worthy enough for the placement session. The average placement from computer science engineering branch is around 6 lakhs per annum highest being 12 lakhs for an extraordinary mind in Samsung. More precisely, the infrastructure is modern though not vibrant. So, make a wise decision and consider the academics as a major parameter but not the placements.

Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) Lateral Entry courses are offered by multiple universities. The Lateral Entry program enables candidates with a 3 years diploma in engineering or an equivalent degree to get admitted directly to 2nd Year (3rd semester). First of all, I need to correct you here by telling you that HBTI or Harcourt Butler Technological Institute is no longer an institute, it has separated itself from the AKTU colleges authority and is an autonomous university. Hence, Harcourt Butler Technological Institute is now known as HBTU.
In my view, National Institute of Technology, Durgapur is far better than HBTU in every aspect one can think of, be it placement, education or faculty.
HBTU has once been associated with AKTU colleges and none of the AKTU colleges could compete with even the worst of the NITs.
Even though HBTU has the potential, it has not been long since HBTI has been granted autonomy so HBTU is far behind NIT-Durgapur, even though the NIT does not make it to the top 5 NITs.
The average placement package that one can expect in NIT-Durgapur is around 6-7 LPA for branches like computer science and information technology while a package of 4.5-5 LPA for the core branches like mechanical and more.
