B.Tech Computer Science and Engineering

Computer Science is the study of how data and instructions are processed, stored, communicated by computing devices. A modern descendant of Applied Mathematics, Computer Science deals with algorithms for processing data, the symbolic representation of data and instructions, the design of instruction languages for processing data, techniques for writing software that process data on a variety of computing platforms, protocols for communicating data reliably and securely across networks, the organization of data in databases of various types and scales, the emulation of human intelligence and learning through computer algorithms, statistical modeling of data in large databases to support inference of trends, and techniques for protecting the content and authenticity of data.

The syllabus of B.Tech computer science and engineering (CSE) and IT overlaps between 80 to 90% in various universities. CSE is the study of computers and computational systems. Computer scientists deal mostly with software and software systems; this includes their theory, design, development and application. IT engineering is application of CS for enterprises to meet business goals. CS graduates can easily do both application and systems development whereas as IT engineers are trained to work on application development. Indian IT industry prefers CS graduates over IT because CS is branch taken by toppers in all engineering entrance examinations.

Until 2015, it was possible to take direct admission in most of the private engineering colleges in India without appearing for any entrance examination. However, 2016 onwards, Ministry of Human Resource and Development (MHRD) has made it mandatory to have a valid score in the respective entrance examination for every student, regardless of whether you take admission via counselling or direct admission.
If a student doesn't have a valid score in the respective entrance examination, the corresponding university will not accept the registration of the student, thereby cancelling his/her admission. So, beware of those fraud agents/ educational consultancies who may promise you admission regardless of entrance examination.
