Both the courses are good in their own areas. If you just want to get a job, go for Diploma but if you want to go for higher studies, I will suggest Masters.

Hello Atharav,
I think, you can do B.Tech in top colleges like IIT or NIT. If suddenly, you get a job, you go aboard for study of M.Tech.

Why are you confused about India and abroad as in India, there are many good colleges which has huge reputation around the world. Just stay here and prepare for JEE and try to crack it so that you get a chance to go into IIT.

Placements are good. But for power systems, as far as I know, only Tata power used to come. I don't know if they are coming for this academic year.

Congratulations on finishing your degree.
Since you have mentioned that you would want to continue for postgraduate studies, it is not clear if you want to continue on the same branch or management related branches.
Generally, marks don't matter if you score above sixty five percentage. However, your percentage might create problems.
For entry into IITs through GATE, you need minimum 60 percentage.
So I don't think you could get into IITs even with even good GATE scores.
But you could always get admission in private universities because they are there to make money. So it really doesn't matter to them. Before applying just check eligibility
