The reality regarding engineering colleges in India is multifaceted. While numerous prestigious institutions offer excellent education, there are also widespread apprehensions regarding the overall quality of engineering education in the nation. Challenges like overpopulation, insufficient infrastructure, and disparities in faculty expertise and curriculum standards have come to light. Furthermore, doubts have been raised regarding the readiness for employment of graduates from certain engineering colleges. Candidates can appear for a total 6 times in JEE Mains. The number of attempts is calculated from the year of passing class 12. For example, if a candidate have passed class 12 in 2023, he/she can appear in both attempts of 2023 as well of both attempts of JEE Main 2024 and 2025.If a candidate opts not to appear in the exam in a year/session, that attempt will forfeit. For example if a candidate who passed class 12 in 2023 but did not appear in JEE Mains in 2023, he/she will have four attempts remaining in 2024 and 2025.As candidates have a plenty of attempts (six), it is advised to prepare well for the exam and then appear in the exam. Appearing in the exam without proper preparation could effect the performance.

In the past five years, there has been a steady decline in enrollment for B.Tech and B.E courses due to a reduction in job opportunities in core streams. Fresher hiring by IT companies has notably decreased,  dropping from 26% of overall passouts in FY22 to 15% and 10% in FY23 and FY24, respectively.
