The Placement at VELS School of Maritime Studies for B.Tech Marine Engineering  is very good compared to the other courses in this college.The average package for B.Tech is  5 Lacs and the highest package is almost 8 lakh. And a huge number of company is visit every year for B.Tech placement for Marine Engineering for various roles.Almost 60% students are placed every year from Marine Engineering Stream.Top recuiter for B.Tech Marine Engineering  is B.Tech FLEET, K-line, MOL, APJ shipping, Molta etc.

For admission to BTech (Marine Engineering) programme, the candidate must have cleared Class 12 or equivalent with a minimum of 60% aggregate in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics, and 50% aggregate in English either in Class 10 or 12.

At the undergraduate level, VELS University offers three to four-year B.Tech courses to students in various specialisations. Admission to various courses is based on merit and entrance exam scores.
