You are eligible for admission to the BTech in Engineering Physics course after completing your Class 12 in the Science background with PCM (Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics) subjects and securing at least 50 to 60% marks. There is no such age limit set by most of the well-known BTech Engineering Physics colleges in India for pursuing this course. But, mostly, the students who take admission to the BTech Engineering Physics programme are 18 to 25 years old at the time of admission.Students who complete Class 12 with PCM subjects and secure at least 50 to 60% marks in the board exams are eligible for applying to the course. Further, they need to clear entrance exams conducted for admission to BTech Engineering Physics every year.

The BTech Engineering Physics degree course is a 4-year programme available at some of the best colleges in India. The course deals with topics such as electromagnetism, materials science, quantum mechanics, analog electronics, computational methods, microprocessor and microcontroller, etc.The coursework for BTech Engineering Physics includes both theory classes as well as practical lab work to provide practical exposure to students with strong emphasis on skill enhancement. For 2022, the cut off was 2925 for General category candidates in All India quota for BTech in Engineering Physics in IIT Delhi. In addition, for the female candidates of the General category under All India quota, 6738 was the closing rank. Further, the BTech cut off varies depending on the category and domicile/quota of the applicant.

The cutoff trend for BTech in Engineering Physics at IIT Guwahati - Indian Institute of Technology has been increasing in recent years. In 2021, the closing rank for BTech in Engineering Physics under the General category for all India quota was 5956. In 2022, it increased to 6192. Likewise, the cut off ranks have changed from 3105 to 3284 for OBC, 1905 to 1922 for SC, 1905 to 1101 for ST, 1118 to 1251 for EWS. The last year 2022 cutoff ranks for B.Tech. in Engineering Physics at IIT Roorkee - Indian Institute of Technology other than General category are - 2648 for OBC, 1764 for SC, 894 for ST, 1062 for EWS. While the admissions are based on the scores/rank obtained in JEE exam, the last cut offs also change a lot depending on All India quota or Home State. It also varies if the applicant is a female.
