Hi Pratapsing,
I think the most important thing one needs in a profession like astronomy and cosmology is curiosity. The conventional way is to go for bachelors in physics, followed by a masters and a phd in physics. But some people(including me) are doing PHD after a bachelors in engineering. One needs very good understanding of physics and maths as a prerequisite. In the meanwhile, many leading research institutes like IUCAA, Pune organize short term Schools in astrophysics for school students, which should be used by your nephew to get a deeper glimpse of this field.

Obviously, B.Tech is having good scope when compared to B.Sc. But, try to choose best course in B.tech will auger your chances to get good jobs after B.tech.

B.Tech is more of engineering. However, B.Sc helps you to get job in other streams too like teaching, IT companies etc., but if you want to get into engineering especially, then please go for B.Tech. It all depends on your choice and preference.

Hi Anjali,MBA through distance mode is going to be good only if you are already working. Otherwise better option would be to go for a regular MBA so that you end up getting a good placement.
