Hello Stiti,
After BDS, you can open a clinic and start your own general practice. But, you need money for that. You can also join someone else's clinic and gain some experience. But the best thing would be going for PG program in your own field. You can join an MDS course, this option is helpful if you want to go into academics and research.
Below are a few great specializations that you may consider for your MDS:
1. M.D.S Periodontology.
2. M.D.S Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
3. M.D.S Conservative Dentistry and Endodontic.
4. M.D.S Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics.
5. M.D.S Prosthodontics and Crown and Bridge.

Traditionally, those who do not get admission in MBBS, go for BDS. But now a days, there is a huge scope for BDS if you can have your own clinic with modern equipment. Plain MBBS will not do unless you follow it up with MD/MS. If you compare salaries in hospitals, MBBS will always get higher remunerations compared to BDS. The thing that matters the most is college from where you pursue your medical program be it BDS or MBBS. Either go for any good govt college or private universities like Santosh University,
JIPMER ,Pondicherry etc. Good luck!
