No, pursuing MDS after BDS is not compulsory. MDS is a postgraduate specialisation in dentistry, and individuals can choose whether or not to pursue further education after completing their BDS degree. After completing BDS, graduates are eligible to practice as general dentists and can provide a range of dental services. If a dentist's career goals align with general dental practice, and they are satisfied with the scope of services offered with a BDS degree, pursuing MDS may not be necessary.
