Please tell us that are you moving into first year or you have completed your first year, first for this then I don't think there is any hard and fast rule, your university degree will be extended if you are pursuing the course of three years then it will be completed in 4 years.

I would suggest doing MS or equivalent in the field of natural products chemistry. It is a fascinating subject that includes though not exhaustively, the investigation of useful compounds in herbs, plants, living specimens, trying to figure out its in vivo biochemistry and working out a viable synthesis in labs.
