The future of big data is really bright. Per IBM, 90% of the data that we have in the world today has been generated in last 2 years. Every day we are generating 2.5 Quintilian Bytes (2,500,000 Terabytes) of data. This data comes in from all over the place such as social media, sensors, transactions, pictures, videos and so on. The growth of this data is expected to be even faster in coming decades. You have indeed raised a very pertinent and interesting query. Computer Science is the prime source of placements these days. We keep hearing astronomical packages for students of this profession. But then not everyone is lucky. On the other hand, data Science or data analytics is the emerging specialization. It existed earlier also but there was no formal training. It has perhaps the widest applicability in our lives. All e-commerce companies, political parties, finance companies etc. In view of foregoing I can confidently say that it's the data Science that has great future
