Bihar Animal Sciences University offers admission in BVSc programme based on NEET score. The university fills 85% of the approved intake under State Quota via BCECE Board counselling. There are a total of 40 seats in BTech programme of BASU Patna. The university fills 85% of the approved seats (i.e. State Quota Seats) from the candidates who are Bihar domicile through BCECE Board,  Patna. The remaining 15% seats are filled-in on All India Basis by the ICAR New Delhi. Candidates are offered seats based on JEE Main or BCECE scores.

Bihar Animal Sciences University selects candidates for MVSc, MFSc, M.Tech and MSc programmes based on ICAR AIEEA (PG) scores. The university accepts JEE Main and NEET scores for BTech and BVSc programmes, respectively.
