Biomedical Engineering in India has got varied scopes if you are comparing it with Mechanical Engineering in terms of job opportunities in India then, I would call it as an unfair comparison and advise you to join Mechanical Engineering in Nirma University.
The scope of biomedical engineering in India:
*After doing biomedical engineering, you can be employed in some MNC's as sales, service and application specialists.
*You can work as a research engineer as well in some OEM manufacturing companies. You can work as a biomedical engineer in the hospitals.
*You can pursue masters from any of the IIT's, IIT Bombay, Madras, Hyderabad and Kharag

It depends on your passion and interests.
In India, there is not much scope for Biomedical Engineering. The few colleges which offer Biomedical Engineering, don't have good facilities or advanced equipment.
On the other hand, electrical engineering is an evergreen field of engineering. Jobs are plenty and is going to be in the foreseeable future.
Electronics engineering companies in India are few so most electronics engineers end up being software engineers. I don't recommend Electronics engineering to you unless you are 100% sure that you love semiconductors, diodes and transistors.

Avergae placements in good colleges.Worst I don't know.You should look at a profile designed by IIM Ahmedabad regarding placements.There you will get w list of all colleges and that is most relevant source

Hello ,Placement of any department depends upon the college. If you are studying in a branded college like IIT, NIT, BITS Pilani, Jadavpur university then department turns out to be crucial regarding packages offered. Except CSE and IT no department has done wonders on placement considering the whole batch. Placement solely depends upon a candidate and placement options are available in good colleges only. Regarding food tech & BIOCHEMICAL engineering at jadavpur university placement in core companies like ITC, Carlsberg has seen a decline in past few years and highest package offered was 6 LACS p.a. in core.
