None of the sections are compulsory, however owing to stiff competition candidates are advised to attempt as many questions as they can. However, you should keep in mind that there is negative marking as well. Biology section carries 45 marks, which is a major chunk of the exam paper. Regards.

Please specify the course which you want to study after class 12, so that I may be able to populate relevant details regarding that course. If you are talking about B.Sc. In Biology please check for your eligibility to pursue this course from the criteria mentioned below:
In order to GET admission in B.Sc. Biology, candidates need to fulfill a certain set of eligibility conditions which are mentioned below.
10+2 or equivalent qualifying examination, from a recognised board.
50% marks in aggregate at 10+2 level
Physics, Chemistry and Biology to be studied as compulsory subjects at 10+2 level

IISER entrance exam 2018 pattern is such that the question paper will contain a total of 60 multiple choice questions that candidates need to complete in duration of 180 minutes (3 hours). Candidates will be evaluated out of a total of 180 marks, out of which 45 marks is allotted to the biology section.
