Genetic engineering is a very broad discipline that is best broken down into its areas of practical application in order to be most easily understood. At the highest level, genetic engineering can be sub-divided into the creation of genetically modified (GM) plants, animals and micro-organisms, as well as the application of genetic engineering in healthcare, otherwise known as genetic medicine. In turn, genetic medicine may be usefully sub-divided into the fields of genetic testing, pharmacogenetics, and gene therapy.

Hello Aniket,
It takes 5 years to become a zoologist ( 3 years to complete B.Sc. in Zoology and 2 years to complete M.Sc. in Zoology). However, if you pursue an integrated course in zoology (B.Sc + M.Sc), you can become a zoologist in 4 years. This saves an year of your career. However, there are very few colleges providing integrated courses. Hence, the seats are less and competition is very tough.
I hope this answers your question to your satisfaction. If so, kindly upvote this answer. If you have any further questions, kindly revert.
