It is recommended that you may evaluate career as Oceanographers. Oceanographers is study of the seas, its coastline, estuaries, coastal waters, shelves and the ocean bed. The study is used for preparation of maps, charts and graphs as well as research and development activities in all branches of ocean Science for use in subsequent technology development. Oceanographers conduct surveys for locating nonliving and living resources, for preservation, conservation and protection of the environment and marine resources and for exploration and scientific work.

The institutions from India among the top 100 highest performers across the globe include:
1. Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR).
2. Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER).
3. Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR).
4. Indian Institute of Science (IISc).
5. Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs).
Indian Institutes do not provide the right academic ambience for research pursuits, but they are developing and hope to be better. You can look at options to work in international organizations.
In Indian, there's a vast scope for environmental science graduates. I have listed some of them:
1. Preference is given to environmental science postgraduates in Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB)/ State PCBs for the post of assistant environmental officers.
2. As environmental officer in industries (Effluent Treatment Plants ETP). With a good salary after some experience.
3. Jobs in Sewage Treatment Plants (STP) in municipalities.
4. You can start your own environmental consultancy services with relevant advisors.
5. As with any science stream, you can go for further research. Institutes like IISc, ATREE – Bangalore and NEERI - Nagpur offer research opportunities. Clearing UGC NET makes you eligible for JRF (Junior Research Fellowship).
6. Clearing UGC NET after PG makes you eligible for lectureship in universities, affiliated colleges.
